Monzer Hourani

Monzer founded M. Hourani and Associates Consulting Engineers in 1971. He was involved in engineering innovations of many building techniques and engineering concepts that have had a great impact on the construction and economy of the building industry in the United States. A major accomplishment as an engineer was Monzer's development of the state-of-the-art system in post-tension foundation. The system has been tested and implemented throughout the United States and has been vital to the construction and engineering industries. He was also the innovator of the spreader system in foundation engineering.

As an engineering firm, M. Hourani and Associates was involved in the design of millions of square feet of office buildings, medical facilities, retail malls, hotels, high-rise condominiums, and other complex structures. The firm has performed structural engineering work on over 590 commercial buildings in over 43 different U.S. states. Monzer is a member of many professional organizations including the American Concrete Institute, The American Institute of Steel Construction, The Post Tension Institute, The American Professional Engineers and many other organizations. He has been referred to by the American Society of Inspecting Engineers as a "leading innovator" in his field. In 1973, Monzer received the "Outstanding Engineer of the Year" award in Houston, Texas.

With Monzer's extensive involvement in the engineering design and construction industry, he has developed numerous office buildings. Several of his many accomplishment include the Westheimer Central Plaza in Houston, Texas; the 615-room Westin Convention Center and Garage in downtown Indianapolis; InterWest Plaza in Fort Worth, Texas; and a large number of major developments all around the United States and in four different countries. Monzer's expertise in the engineering field and construction industry has played a major role in the field of healthcare development and construction. The philosophy which he has always followed in each of his development endeavors is to develop and construct very economical healthcare buildings while maintaining a superior-quality product and to complement the latest advances in technology and medicine.

Monzer has led the way in introducing new technologies in healthcare real estate for the past 25 years. An example of his visionary leadership in healthcare real estate and related technology includes his design and development leadership in developing the world's first fully-automated digital hospital. Monzer and Medistar were advocates in the late 1980's and into the early 1990's of integrated medical buildings and the great future for state-of-the-art outpatient ambulatory facilities.

Monzer is the founder of Medistar Corporation. The primary business of Medistar Corporation is medical real estate. Medistar is considered one of the leading medical real estate development companies in the healthcare field. Medistar is on the cutting-edge of new technology in design, construction and development of healthcare facilities, medical office buildings, integrated medical buildings and outpatient facilities, bio-tech, pharmaceutical, healthcare technology-related projects, hospitals, cancer treatment centers, ambulatory projects and long-term acute care hospitals. Medistar works directly with healthcare corporations for-profit and not-for-profit. Medistar is specialized in the development of integrated medical buildings that typically contain state-of-the-art facilities for outpatient surgery, full modality diagnostics including MRI, CAT scan, PET scan, physical therapy, and physician offices. With the current healthcare market and technological advances in outpatient surgery, this integrated concept has been very successful with a tremendous amount of ongoing work and projects.
